a family story

(Note: There are many characters in this story, and it would take me a while to enumerate everyone. You’ll get to know them as you read on. Enjoy!)

It’s that time of the year again. I’ve always had very fond memories of the holidays – especially New Year’s Eve. And at 23, things never changed. I’m still the excited little brat who can’t wait until the clock strikes midnight. I still have the silly grin on my face as I look up to enjoy fireworks. Yeah, some things never change.

This year was no different from the rest. It’s still the same, if not better. For one thing, The Virgins are complete. (FYI: The Virgins are composed of the five sisters who are still, and will always be, single heehee). I can’t remember the last time that they were complete, and now the house is like market place once they start their gabbing sessions. Gawd! Add to that Fatty’s wacky stunts, you’d think they’ve all gone mad. And did I mention I’m glad that they’re all here for the holidays? =)

The Virgins: Fe, Fatty, Lucy, Tita, Normz

MERRY CHRISTMAS!>>
Christmas Eve… :o)

Christmas Day was spent as usual. Kids from everywhere came to the house, like an army waiting in line for their meal. The whole morning was spent gift-giving. Fatty even had this crazy “raffle” – she would ask the kids to write down their names in a sheet of paper, and at the end of the days, she’ll draw the lucky winner. The prize: all the goodies a little kid could want. I wonder whatever happened to that raffle. Haha.

The rest of the day was spent visiting relatives. I was driving from one place to another, and my only consolation was the food galore at every stop. Haha. Whew! First stop was at Lolo Silio’s place. After another round of eating myself full to the brim, it was time for some laughter. It’s like a ritual: first there’s the food, then the laughter. It’s when people gather round the table and while having dessert, every single story that worth a laugh will be told. Now you know why I keep telling stories over and over again. It’s in the genes. ^_^

¼ of the whole bunch: these were the only oldies available for the Kodak moment hehe. The kids didn’t even bother to join. You know, generation gap. =p

Next stop: Lolo Siso’s place. There was food as usual. And I stuffed myself again, as usual. Another round of stories and laughter. I don’t know why these “sessions” are always the most hilarious, I guess it’s the fact that laughter is best contagious when shared with the family. Hehe. After many hearty laughs and gift-giving, the last stop was my mom’s place. No, I didn’t eat anything. I was too full, I don’t have an appetite anymore. So while the oldies are having their usual gabbing sessions, we fooled around with the camera.

Jerome’s Angels: Maya, myself, Chun. Rockpit!!

Is it just me, or Tintin’s doll is way bigger than myself?! My God, that doll’s heavy! If I were a little kid, I’d freak out. Haha!

CIAO 2007!>>
New Year’s Eve was a blast! Everyone was excited for the feast. Yeah, with all that food, who wouldn’t be?! The kitchen smelled of different flavours as the oldies did their magic. The little kids were in their usual makulit mode. The young adults were busy dressing up. My room looked like a beauty salon because later that night, even the oldies wanted to have their hair and make-up done. Such vanity haha!

Before the clock strikes 12, we attempted to have a huge family picture, from the oldest down to the little tots. It was a whole imbroglio: one uncle trying to get a good shot from different cellphone cameras, one aunt trying to figure out the best possible angle for the digicam, one cousin trying to get everybody as close together as possible, and a lot of heads trying to fit in and be seen. Note that the keyword here is “attempt”. Hehehe.
Attempt #1: Oops, not yet ready..

Attempt #2: Still not ready… some more faces missing!

Attempt #3: Okay, a little… better..

Attempt #4: It’s a wacky family!

Bad news is not everybody was in the picture. And if they were there, I don’t know how the hell our faces were going to fit. Fatty even suggested that we should have our faces as close to each other as possible. Yeah right. Good news is the “attempts” were worth it. Better than nothing. Hehe.

KODAK MOMENTS>>
